Stagnation in Trade

The Daily "Press" of May 12th, editorially states "severe complaints have of late been made of the strange stagnation which has been apparent in almost all branches of trade. Speculation is rife as to the causes of this general depression, but many of the best informed commercial men are compelled to admit that the state of affairs is only one of those frequently occurring surprises in regard to trade in China."
